Gas Pressure Reducing and Metering Stations
Gas pressure reduction and gas metering stations are designed and manufactured in a variety of types depending on the inlet and outlet pressure, capacity, type of application and type of consumption.
Pressure control stations (PCS) instead of expensive gas compressor stations are used in a loop between two gas transmission lines. By connecting the line that having a higher operating pressure (1305psi) to the other line with a lower pressure (1050psi), when consumption goes up and the second line pressure drops below 1050psi, CPS station compensates for the pressure drop by flowing gas from the high-pressure line to the line, and the line pressure remains constant.
When the natural gas in a transmission pipeline reaches a local gas utility, it normally passes through a "City Gate Station (CGS)." Utilities frequently have gate stations receiving gas at many different locations and from several different pipelines. CGS stations serve three purposes. First, they reduce the pressure in the line from transmission levels (400 to 1,400 psi) to distribution levels, which range is about 250 psi. Then an odorant, the distinctive sour scent associated with natural gas, is added so that consumers can smell even small quantities of gas. Finally, the CGS station measures the flow rate of the gas to determine the amount being received by the utility. CGS stations design and made in Flat shape.
The gas is delivered to consumers in the industrial and domestic low-pressure area by later smaller stations known as the Town Border Station (TBS). TBS stations reduce gas pressure from 250 psi to 60 psi. They design and made in Flat and Cabinet type shapes.
Metering stations are used to measure the amount of gas delivered to various industries and consumers.
